High Risk Discrimination Groups In Pennsylvania
If You Are One of the Following Job Categories You May Be in Danger of Discrimination or Harassment
Over the years we have represented thousands of employees. We have learned that there are some employees in some sectors of the economy who are more vulnerable than others to certain kinds of harassment. If you are a waitress or a bartender, you are more likely to suffer sexual harassment than other women in other jobs. If you are a woman in a traditionally man’s job such as a laborer, a welder, a truck driver or a fire fighter, you are more likely to suffer gender discrimination and far more likely to be ostracized, insulted, treated with disrespect by your co-workers and terminated. If you are a male in a traditionally woman’s profession such as a male nurse you are in danger of reverse gender discrimination. If you are African American, African, or Hispanic and you work in the baking industry, the restaurant industry or any kind of small manufacturing company such as garment manufacturing, you are most likely to be discriminated against on the basis of your race and most likely to be short changed when it comes to your compensation. Your job is also most likely to be taken by illegal aliens. If you are a teacher and you have worked in a particular school district for a long time, you are most likely to be a victim of age discrimination. This will manifest itself by your principal suddenly creating a paper trail to indicate that you cannot teach, despite the fact that you may have taught for 30 years. Although the basis is age, it is more likely that budget considerations are pushing you out, because of your high salary. Similarly, if you are a nurse and you have worked at a hospital or a facility for many years, you are likely to be pushed out because you earn too much money and the employer will try to find some reason to terminate you. If you are a secretary, a dental assistant, an assistant in a medical office or an administrative assistant, you are most likely to be abused and harassed in your job by your boss and although this harassment may not be sexual or gender based, you are likely to suffer abuse, temper tantrums, insults and aggression by your boss. If you have come to this country on an E1 Visa and you have a contract of employment, it is most likely to be breached by the company who sponsored you, at the time your Visa is about to expire and a new contract will be thrust before you with far more unfavorable terms. If you don’t accept it – say goodbye to the U.S. because you’re on a flight home. If you are an LPN you are likely to suffer gender, race, age and disability discrimination. The LPN’s “win” in the discrimination department.
We may add to these categories as time goes on but basically, if you are in any one of the above categories, you are in danger. If you need help, give us a call. We have the resources. We have the experience.
